its been too long...

♪♫ Dilemma - Green Day

Wow! Its been way too long since I last blogged. Oops! I have had an eventful time since my last post. I'm too lazy to write it out, so I'm going to list it in bullet form (in no particular order):

• I went on a two week trip to see my best friend Kara. She lives near the US border, so we went on a trip to Bangor, Maine for a night. We did Stephen King touring (on our own), since we are both big fans. We also did lots of shopping and ate at Olive Garden (my favorite restaurant ever now). I purchased a lot of stuff at Walmart and Target, haha. Some items include; a Tree Hut body scrub (which I'm obsessed with now), a Goosebumps sweatshirt, a little plush Pennywise doll, a Body Fantasies spray, a jack-o-lantern face shirt, snacks, and more.

• Began planning for a Salem/Boston trip in August 2024. We are driving (only 5.5 hours from where my best friend lives). We are going for four days and have already booked our Airbnb. However... for our last night, we are actually staying the night at Lizzie Borden's house in Fall River. We are both really into paranormal stuff and true crime, so we are super excited!

• Speaking of trips, I went to Ontario in November, and stayed there for four days. It was my first time there, and I really enjoyed it. Also, the trip was almost free because I used an Air Canada voucher (they gave me because of the 24 delay/cancellation when I returned from New York), which covered the cost of the roundtrip flight. I also stayed with a friend, so the accomodation was free. She lives in Hamilton, which is halfway between Toronto and Niagara Falls, so we went to both! We did Toronto the first day, where I saw the CN tower, did some shopping, and wandered around. Then the next day we did Niagara Falls. We stayed at an Airbnb for the night because we had plans to drink. First we stopped at the falls to see them lit up at night, then we went to a bar and got drunk, haha. The next day we drove across to Niagara Falls, NY to eat at Olive Garden. The whole trip was tons of fun!

• I graduated from university. I got my degree with honours and I also made the dean's list, so I am very proud of myself! After my graduation ceremony, I went out for lunch with family to celebrate and I got some gifts; a 10k gold heart locket, a Juicy Couture purse, and Halloween cupcakes. Not pictured are the monetary gifts I recieved.

• I already started another degree at a different university. I am doing a social work degree now. Its online and since I'm doing it part time, it should take about three years to complete.

• I have discovered I have mild lactose intolerance. Since I switched to lactose free products, I am feeling a lot better.

• I have been cooking a lot more and perfecting my skills. I've made stews, soups, gumbo, goulash, and more. Everyone has raved about how good my food is! I ended up buying the cutest crockpot that is the perfect size to make myself a few days' worth of meals.

• I turned 31 in December. I decided to go visit my best friend Kara again. Her birthday is also in December, so we decided to celebrate together. Before I left, I had a dinner with my family and they gave me gifts. I forgot to take pictures of most of the gifts. However, I did get a picture of the gifts my dad gave me; David Lynch's Dynamic:01 on DVD, Sex Pistols on vinyl, and the Criterion version of Lost Highway. He knows me so well!

• When I went to visit my best friend Kara, we did lots of stuff. For celebrating our birthdays, we got an ice cream cake that has our nicknames for each other on it (long story haha), and had a fancy dinner with drinks. We also exchanged gifts. While I was there, we also visited the US multiple times for shopping and eating out (since its so close to her house). I went a little crazy at the US Walmart, haha. I stocked up on a year's worth of Tree Hut scrubs because we don't have them in Canada. The downsides of the trip was a windstorm that knocked the power out for a few days, having food poisoning for two days, and getting a flat tire just before my trip!

• As soon as I returned from my birthday trip, I only had a few days until Christmas, so I got right to work on making a double batch of my family's traditional shortbread cookies. This year's batch was the best so far! I also added a new shape to the cookie cutters: mushroom! Its so cute!

I can't think of much else that is new. I will try to keep up with blogging!

I've been meaning to write this blog for over a week, but I got super busy. First of all; my vacation was amazing! I went to Cape Breton to see the Cabot Trail with a friend. We stayed in a cute little cottage out in the country, which had a fire pit, so obviously we made tons of smores and roasted hot dogs/veggie dogs! We also drove around to look at scenery, ate at a few different restaurants, did a little shopping, seen some tourist attractions, drank alcohol, listened to awesome tunes, and more. The only bad part of the trip was when we went into a market and we were treated like garbage because I was wearing my Black Lives Matter shirt. People are awful sometimes! Also, before you go on about being a pandemic, my province has 6 active cases and we are being encouraged to travel within the Atlantic provinces, all of which have barely any Covid-19 cases.

Another amazing thing about the trip; I discovered how to use my camera to take professional photography level photos! I wanted to get a picture of the stars because there is minimal light pollution in the country, but I couldn't figure out how to. I ended up Googling it and adjusted the settings on my phone camera (which I bought specifically because its considered one of the best phone cameras for photography). It worked! I took an amazing photo of the night sky, then I took an additional photo of the cottage with the sky in the background. I also got a pretty picture of blue hydrangeas that I spotted in the daylight!

I've been really busy working lately, but I have still gotten to hangout with a friends a bit on a few different occassions. It feels so nice to socialize more. Work has been a drama fest lately. Something awful was emailed to everyone and now the tension is really high. It sucks, but I'm hoping it'll die down and we can all go back to normal. I'm sick of it all. But taking care of myself outside of work has been really helpful. Like I said, I've been socializing more, I have an appointment to get my eyelash extensions re-filled, I have an appointment for another tattoo in a few weeks, I just freshy re-dyed the blue underneath my hair, I ordered myself a tripod for my phone to take more professional photos, I got new clothes (including a really sexy witchy bodysuit), and I've been focused on my goals. I am also going away for a week on the 16th to visit my best friend in New Brunswick. Life is good!

One more thing before I go; its been 10 years since my friend Nick passed away. To Nick; You're not forgotten. Everytime I play a song by Rammstein or watch a cheesy B movie, I think of you. Random things still remind me of memories of you, like McDonald's fries and Super Nintendo. I cherish all those times we hung out together. Rest in peace Nick. 🖤🤘

That is all for now. I hope everyone is well!

♪♫ Radioactive - Imagine Dragons

Hey! How is everyone? I feel like its been a while... again. Trying to keep up with regular blogging can be a struggle. I wish I could blog every few days like I used to! Anyways, I've been busy doing lots of fun stuff since my last blog. I went with my family to a place called Fisherman's Cove here in Nova Scotia. My family usually goes at least a few times during the summer. Its right outside of town, so its not too hard to get to. We had ice cream, looked around in the little shops, then walked along the boardwalk. My family also had a BBQ, which was great. I got to go for some nice walks, including one to the public gardens, where I seen their cacti collection. Also, I went out drinking with coworkers and it was a ton of fun! I definitely needed it. I want to do it again in September, but this time I think we'll have a house party instead of going to bars, because its much cheaper.

I also touched up the blue in my hair! I didn't dilute the blue dye as much as I did last time, so it seems to be rubbing off on everything now. I washed it twice in the 24 hours after dyeing it, but its still rubbing off on everything! Ugh! I have to lay a towel down over my pillow at night just to prevent my hair from staining it. I'm hoping a few more washes and it will stop getting on everything. I'm also thinking that in a few months, I may switch the color to purple or maybe a forest green.

I have been obsessed with iced coffee lately. A couple weeks ago, I ordered a meal from McDonald's via UberEats and they messed up my order, so I ended up getting someone's coffee. They let my keep the meal for free, so I just placed the coffee in the fridge and brought it to work that night, where I added ice cubes to it. It was amazing! I remember drinking a lot of iced coffee last summer, but I guess I had forgotten how good it is. Anyways, I wanted to make a bit of a healthier version, so I came up with my own recipe and oh my fuck is it ever good! Its 1 + 1/3 cups of hot water (or 350 ml), 2 tsps of instant coffee, 2 packets of stevia, almost a quarter cup (or 50 ml) of Silk Almond For Coffee (Hazelnut flavor). Then I just let it cool, place it in the fridge and add 3 small ice cubes when I'm ready to have it! My version is only about 90 calories (most coffees are over 200 calories). My version is also dairy free and vegan!

I've made some purchases lately; 3 DVDs and 1 VHS tape from a local thrift shop, a string of faux blue roses, a '70s coffee table book about cacti, magnetic eyelashes and a new eye mask for sleep. I'm really excited for the magnetic eyelashes. I've always been self conscience of my eyelashes and wanted bigger/darker ones. I considered getting eyelash extensions, but I figured that I'd try out magnetic eyelashes first to see if it looks good on me. Plus its 1/3 of the price of eyelash extensions. I can't wait to try them!

The only other two things are; I have a tattoo appointment in a couple weeks and I got air conditioning in my house now! I don't remember if I discussed the tattoo or not, but its going to be a David Lynch themed tattoo and I'm very excited! I will be getting many more tattoos, its all a matter of time and deciding what I want. I think I'll get my next one close to my birthday in December. Anyways, I'm going to relax for the rest of the day. I recently got into The Umbrella Academy, so I'm going to finish watching season 2, then maybe watch a horror movie. I hope everyone is well!

♪♫ Take Me To Church - Hozier

The cottage was wonderful! Sadly though, I didn't fully enjoy it. It was raining most of the time and I also wasn't in the headspace to be in a cottage by myself for two days. On the second day, I ended up hanging out with a friend for most of the day. We went out for lunch, went to a nail salon for a manicure, got milkshakes and went for a drive. It was a good time! Although I didn't fully enjoy my time at the cottage, I have booked it again for October. I feel that I will enjoy it more when I'm surrounded by beautiful fall leaves. Speaking of vacations, I have also planned two other ones; I'm going to the Cabot Trail to stay in an old farmhouse for three nights (here in Nova Scotia) and I'm going to St. Stephen to stay with a friend for seven nights (New Brunswick).

The day I came back, one of my youth moved out. He had told me a couple weeks prior, so it wasn't a surprise. It was still sad though. I hope all goes well for him. Anyways, the day after that, I spent some time with my dad. We got fries and sat outside, then looked around in a few stores. I bought this super cute little handpainted moon and stars mirror and a blue velvet mini scrunchie from a little bohemian store. It was a wonderful time!

Since then, I've been working everyday. This weekend at work was probably one of my favorites ever. I don't know why, but it was full of laughter and fun. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood! I also got to decorate pride themed cupcakes with the youth. They turned out so good! I also made myself a pansexual themed one! I work again tonight, then I'm off for another nine days. Its been so nice to just be working part time. I definitely think I'll go back to full time in September like I previously planned. I'm already feeling like my stress is going away.

Currently its super hot outside and my house is like a sauna. I have to sleep for work soon (I work an overnight shift) and I don't know how I'm going to comfortably sleep... ugh. I'm going to have a snack and try to relax/cool down. Wish me luck!

P.S. here is a new selfie I took recently!

Well... its been almost a month since I last blogged. Oops! I guess I got really busy! A lot has happened since my last blog. I'm just going to list everything in bullet form, in no particular order...

• I got a super cute neon floral velvet/sheer off-the-shoulder top for exactly $1.70 at Forever 21 (because they're closing all their stores in Canada). Best deal I've ever gotten!

• Failed my road test... sadly. The tester said I did great aside from one mistake which was an auto fail. He was very nice about it and told me not to be too upset because I really should have passed, I was just nervous and messed up on one big thing. I've already re-booked my next one, which won't be until February. Lots more time to practice!
• I went to see Knives Out at the movies... twice! I really enjoyed it the first time, so I went to see it again on my birthday! I also brought macaroons along the first time. I haven't had them in so long, they were delicious!

• On Black Friday, I bought a PS4! I had been debating between getting a Nintendo Switch or PS4 for weeks, then I finally decided on the PS4! I'm so excited! It also came with 3 games, and I also bought Grand Theft Auto IV separately.

• Been having a bit of a rough time at work. I have been overworking myself a bit and struggling with a couple coworkers. Hopefully things get better soon!
• I got paid to see The Nutcracker for work (my ticket was also free). It was so wonderful! I love being able to attend things for free because of work!

• I signed up for Disney+ and have been watching tons of nostalgic movies and shows! Mostly I've been watching Lizzie McGuire, haha.
• I finally got American Horror Story: Freakshow on DVD! I've been wanting it for a long time, because its one of my favorite seasons of American Horror Story. I've been watching it for the past few days now.

• Went to a Christmas party with my boyfriend and his friends. We had a gift exchange and I ended up getting a storm trooper dashboard bobblehead and a little box of Turtles. Now I have my first car decoration for when I get a car!
• I made a giant pot of veggie chili and two batches of shortbread cookies. They were so yummy!

• Had 3 different birthday dinners. One with my boyfriend, one with my grandmother and cousin, and one with my dad. So much delicious food!
• I got lots of awesome birthday/Christmas gifts; a hand-painted Alice in Wonderland tea box made by my dad, Jeffree Star Cosmetics items, The Women of David Lynch book, Turtles chocolates, a starry fuzzy robe, two pairs of shoes, boot socks, a movie theatre gift card, and lots of cash.

• I had a massage on my birthday and it was wonderful! It was expensive, but I felt like treating myself to something fancy. Glad that I did!
• A youth that I work with designed a logo in collaboration with a local brand that makes clothing items. I ordered a hat to show support and I finally got it today. Its so lovely!

Thats all I can think of for now. I'm sure there is more, but its hard to think of it right now since its been so long. Bye for now! I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays!

Life has been eventful since my last blog. I went to my boyfriend's friend's wedding. It was pretty fun! There were nerdy elements, which I thought was super cool! They had music from the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings soundtracks. Also, each table was a different fandom. My boyfriend and I were placed at the Doctor Who table! Although it was fun, we did head out early because we're introverts and we were tired, haha.

After the wedding, I spent the week with my boyfriend. We went for a fall walk, I met up with a friend for lunch, I binge watched all of The Haunting of Hill House (which is definitely in my top five favorite shows ever now), my boyfriend's mom gave me quilting lessons (& let me pick out the fabrics - I went with a Halloween theme), and lots more! I've been feeling down lately, but that week definitely made me feel better.

Since I've gotten back home, I've had a therapy appointment, which went well. I left feeling better, which is rare for therapy. I usually feel bad for a few days, then better. Anyways, aside from that, nothing else is new. I'm just waiting to hear back from college about finishing my course. I can't see why I wouldn't get back in (I withdrew for medical reasons before). But, there is still always that chance it won't happen, which is scary. Wish me luck!
