i'm unstoppable today

♪♫ Unstoppable - Sia

My week off is over now, and guess what?! Its my last week of classes! Next week I start my internship, which I do for two months, then I graduate! I'm so excited! I only have one small piece of homework left to do as well. It feels nice to know that I'm almost done school! Wooo! I will still have assignments to do while I'm doing my internship, but it will just be one small assignment per week. Nothing too difficult!

Going back to my week off... it was a pretty good time. I spent a few days enjoying some alone time (watched shows on Netflix & did some coloring), then I went to visit my boyfriend for the rest of the week. I got to work on my quilt some more, played Detroit: Become Human, did some volunteer work, bought a used Blu-ray at a local store (Event Horizon for only $4!), went out for dinner twice, went for a walk in the park, went to Wal-mart, and more!

As you all know, today is April Fool's day. My grandmother got me good this morning. She told me that our basement was flooding again (we just finished repairs from our basement flooding back in January). She is a good actress. She really had me believing it! Then, a little while later, my boyfriend sent me a YouTube link for a song he said he thought I'd really like. It turned out to be an awful country song (I hate country music). Sadly, I didn't get to trick anyone today!

That is all for now. I'll blog again after I start my internship. I hope everyone is doing well!

♪♫ American Woman (David Lynch Remix) - Muddy Magnolias

The last two weeks have been crazy busy! I'll begin with what happened a couple days after my last blog; I received my collector's edition Blu-ray copy of Wild at Heart in the mail! Its so beautiful! I also received (in a separate order); a faux leather portfolio (for school), plastic sheet covers, and lots of markers for coloring! I've been thinking a lot about getting back into coloring lately. I find it so relaxing!

I got my first credit card recently! I decided that its time to build good credit for myself, so that I can purchase a house in the future. I'm mostly going to be using it to pay off my phone bill every month (then paying off my credit card right away). I am going to be very careful to not use it too often. I don't want any debt! I'm hoping it goes well. Also... they gave me a limit of $2000, which seems like a lot for my first credit card. Most people I know only got $500 for their first one.

Last week was my school's March Break Camp. For anyone who doesn't know; I'm taking child and youth care in college. Our March Break Camp is basically like our exams. Our teacher observes us as we run the entire camp by ourselves. We have to plan activities, purchase supplies, book special guests, etc. Mostly, our teacher wants to see how we work with children. Anyways, it went really well! I found myself feeling really sad at the end of the week when it was over. When I took my camp shirt off after getting home, I took a look at all the signatures from the children and my classmates. I noticed a comment written by a 10 year old girl that I spent a lot of time with and I began to cry. Its just the sweetest thing ever!

Over the weekend, I did a lot of relaxing, but I also got to go out and enjoy myself a bit. I went to the farm market, Wal-mart, the dollar store, and Pizza Hut. I didn't get anything at the farm market, but I purchased over half my groceries at Wal-mart (its super cheap), got a cute sign for my bedroom at the dollar store, and ate garlic fingers at Pizza Hut (plus took home a mini veggie pizza for later). My favorite part of the weekend was eating my veggie pizza and watching That '70s Show in bed.

I heard two big pieces of news in the past week relating to things I'm a fan of. The first one is that Supernatural, my favorite show, is ending. Season 15 is their final season. Part of me is really sad, but I also feel like its time. The show has run out of story lines in my opinion. I will miss it so much and I can't wait to see what Jared and Jensen will do next, but for now, I have one more season to look forward to! I also need to begin re-watching all the seasons sometime soon. Its been a while!

The other piece of news is that Shane Dawson and Ryland Adams (my favorite YouTubers) are now engaged! Shane proposed to Ryland on their three year anniversary. I'm so happy for them! I can't wait to hear more details about it when they release a video. Now I'm just waiting for Jeffree Star and his boyfriend Nathan Schwandt to get engaged! Also, my best friend Kara told me that she is going to buy Jeffree's Blood Sugar eye shadow palette for me as a graduation gift!

Currently, I have a week off from school. Since we had to do a March Break Camp, we were given this week off instead to make up for it. So far, I've been doing homework, watching Netflix, and I made a big pot of spicy vegetarian chili! Tomorrow I have a therapy appointment, then I'm meeting my dad for dinner to give his birthday gift to him. I will also likely go to the book store too. In a couple days, I'm going to visit my boyfriend until Sunday afternoon. When I'm there, I will also be working on my quilt with his mom, doing more homework, and doing some volunteer work for school. I'll also fit some fun activities in there too.

Now I'm gonna go and enjoy the rest of my day. I hope everyone is doing well!

we get down every friday night

♪♫ Body Electric - Lana Del Rey

After my last blog, I could barely move for a week because I pulled a muscle in my leg during bowling. I didn't realize it at the time, but on Monday when I woke up, I couldn't get out of bed. Luckily it was a snow day, so I just relaxed in bed all day. Then on Tuesday, I took the day off so that my legs could get better. I went to school the rest of the week though. By Friday, my legs were feeling fine, so it wasn't a big inconvenience... thankfully.

On Wednesday, I treated myself to a smoothie from a downtown cafe to cheer myself up because of my leg (I had to meet my class there for a presentation). I used to get them all the time, but it had been a while! It was nice to have something different for breakfast. I usually eat oatmeal with banana slices and almonds every single morning. I think its nice to change things up every so often. The same thing everyday gets boring.

Thursday was the last day of my school week and a pretty great day too! I had no homework to do for the weekend, so I had basically no stress. I got The Love Witch on DVD in the mail, which I have been waiting for since early/mid February. I had jalapeño poppers for supper, which are my favorite food right now. They are so damn addicting! Finally, I watched the new episode of Riverdale and re-watched some episodes of Twin Peaks!

This past weekend was busy. On Friday evening, I was in charge of the youth centre that I volunteer at. The director was sick and so I was asked to open and close. The night went well, aside from a crazy guy coming in. I had to kick him out, but thankfully he didn't argue with me about it. On Saturday, I hung out with two friends for a couple hours at the local library, my boyfriend and I played Magic, we also watched Dune, we went to the mall (I bought two books for myself), and I colored a pretty picture of a butterfly. Sunday was mostly dedicated to working on my Halloween quilt with my boyfriend's mom. I have finally finished the sewing, so now I'm doing the actual quilting part!

I have the day off from school today. Our teacher told us to just go get our supplies for camp today, but my group doesn't need anything, so I just slept in and decided there was no point in going out today. My other teammates agreed. Its nice to have another day off from school. Wooo! I plan to do a little bit of school work today, some cleaning, and lots of relaxing!

I've had a very stressful couple of weeks. Last week I had a ton of school work to do, plus two presentations. Unfortunately, there were three snow days, which made it very difficult to complete my work. I did manage to do it though! For both of my presentations (along with my group), I got marks in the 90s! I'm so proud of myself! The teacher says she was very impressed by our presentation skills! Although the school work and presentations worked out, there were some personal issues that occurred that week...

A male friend in my class had a major breakdown and upset a lot of people. I don't want to go into detail because its confidential, but it was very stressful for me. That happened on Friday, so it ruined my evening a bit due to me still thinking about it. It was a lot of drama. But... things got much better on Saturday! I got a drive to Halifax (aka home), where I have been spending my spring break for the past week. I still have a few days left too! Although I have still had to do homework and some personal issues have popped up (with the male friend I mentioned earlier, my mom's mental health & my cousin's anxiety), its been a pretty good week!

» When I arrived on Saturday, we went out for groceries and I got garlic fingers with donair sauce for dinner. I had a lot of packages waiting for me too, so I opened them up! I also watched the latest episode of Riverdale. Its getting so good! Oh, and I took a new selfie!

I got: a tie dye sun/moon tapestry, Rob Zombie's 31 on Blu-ray, "I need more space" t-shirt, coffin purse and a serape duster.

Loving my new serape duster! It makes me feel like a queen!

» I bought a new pair of yoga pants on Sunday, plus my grandmother gave me a pair of hers that she didn't want anymore. I won't bothering posting a picture of them. They're both just basic black yoga pants. Also, I got caught up on Bates Motel. I'm ready for the next season!

» On Monday I went out for tea/coffee with the Brownie leaders I used to volunteer with. They told me about the unfortunate passing of another Brownie leader that I worked with for a little while. It was a shock. We discussed lots of different things. They also invited me to come to Brownies tonight to see the girls again, which I happily agreed to! It was lovely to see them again!

» I went to my dad's on Tuesday. We walked around downtown and I did a bit of shopping. After that, we got vegan double bacon cheeseburgers for dinner and went to see Hidden Figures (it was really good!). When we got back to his apartment, I had to deal, via text, with my mother having some severe mental issues (I had to call the police to take her to the hospital).

EnVie in Halifax has the best vegan burgers!

Some other awesome vegan food I have had in the past week; English breakfast, chickpea of the sea sandwich + tortilla chips, spicy bean wrap and Tuscan chickpea salad.

» On Wednesday, my dad and I went to the mall for the afternoon. I went on a bit of a shopping spree... haha. It felt good to buy myself lots of stuff. I also got to go to HMV and get a few items, which I'm both happy and sad about because they're closing soon for good. After the mall, my dad came back to my house and had dinner. Then I ended my night by doing homework (which I passed in 20 minutes before the due date) and fighting with my male friend, who I won't be talking to anymore.

What I bought: grey leggings, magenta tank top, black tank top, Hogwarts travel cup, The Hateful Eight on DVD, Supernatural poster, The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine, Harry Potter pen/bookmark combo, a Led Zeppelin coin purse and flip flops (not pictured).

I also got an email last night from a t-shirt making website... they said that I won a free t-shirt! I did enter a contest there a little while back, so I must have won! I looked into it and it seems legit... I just always feel suspicious when it comes to winning things online and getting something for free. It seems too good to be true, haha. Well... hopefully it is real. Anyways, they told me to pick any design/color that I wanted and I went with this one...

I definitely knew that I wanted a Lord of the Rings shirt, since I don't already have one. They had quite a few to pick from, but this one caught my eye!

Today I'm going to finish up my homework and visit my old Brownie unit. I also want to watch a movie at some point today. I need some relaxation time! I'm still a bit stressed out...

Oh no! It looks like I haven't blogged in a few weeks... so sorry! I have been crazy busy lately with school and volunteer work (I volunteer at a homeless shelter & a youth center). But I decided to take this weekend off because I feel really overworked and I need some me time. It feels so good to be able to really relax for the first time in a long time! Anyways, I'm going to do this blog in bullet points to save myself the hassle of writing a ton of paragraphs. It will be in no particular order either...

  • I took some beautiful pictures of the fall leaves.

  • I got about 2/3 of my Christmas shopping done! Once its completed, I will post pictures on my blog of what I bought for everyone!
  • I've been re-watching Lost. I'm on season four now. It never fails to make me feel comforted and at home.
  • I got sick of how my room looked, so I re-arranged the furniture. It actually improved my mood quite a bit! I think the feng shui was really off before.

  • I got my learner's license! I'm so relieved that I finally passed the test!
  • I finally got more supplies to make more Twin Peaks inspired rings! I'm gonna get started tomorrow.
  • The food bank gave me a lot of food that I couldn't eat because it was either not vegetarian or expired (I donated all the non-expired stuff to the homeless shelter I volunteer at). Potatoes was one of the only things that I could use, so I ended up making roasties with sea salt, Italian seasoning and garlic powder! They were sooo good!

  • I got a $1700 government grant! They said I can spend it on whatever I want, so I'm using $700 for driver's ed and I'm saving the rest!
  • I've been trying to stick with a plant based/whole food diet lately because my physical health isn't doing so well due to eating a lot of junk food since college began. So one of meals lately was a delicious taco salad! It was good, but next time I'm going to add some organic salsa to make it amazing!

  • I played Dungeons and Dragons for the first time! A bunch of people from the youth center I volunteer at got together on a Monday evening and played a game for a couple hours with some snacks and drinks. It was a really great time! I'm glad that I got out and socialized a bit, since I'm usually stuck in my room by myself most of the time.
  • To celebrate getting the $1700 grant, I bought myself a couple treats; a new wallet (really needed one because my old one fell apart) and some cute coffin earrings. I also bought myself some spinach dip and tortilla chips from a local restaurant, which I took home and pigged out on, haha!

  • I've been having a lot of issues with social assistance. They aren't really helping me at all and it doesn't seem like they care that I'm a starving college student. Luckily I have family, friends and the food bank to help me out though.
  • I watched Leonardo Dicaprio's new documentary Before The Flood and it was fantastic! I highly recommend that everyone watches it! Its available for free on YouTube, just search for it!
  • I dressed up a bit for Halloween. I wore a little witch hat and some pumpkin earrings. Plus I did my makeup more dramatic than usual and wore black (which I do often anyways). It was a lot of fun!

  • My college class decided to have a pot luck for Halloween. It went super well and I was sooo full by the end of it. My favorite thing was a green mac 'n cheese that a girl in my class made. It had cream cheese added to it, which made it unbelievably amazing!
  • I didn't do a whole lot for Halloween night, sadly. I just ate some candy and watched Lost.
  • To celebrate making it 1/2 of the way through the first semester of school, my teachers brought in a cake for our whole class! It was sickeningly good!

  • Next weekend is a four day weekend and I'm going home for a visit! I'm so happy! I'm gonna have a vegan double bacon cheeseburger with a vegan poutine and a vegan taco salad from my favorite vegan restaurants! There are no vegan places here, which is why I'm so excited, haha! I'm also excited to see my family and do some shopping!
  • I treated myself to a cute festive pajama set. I seen it at the grocery store and I had to have it!

  • I'm having a really hard time with some people at school that I have to work with. They are 18 and quite immature. I find it really stressful, but one of my teachers said she would deal with it, so I'm gonna try not to think about it and just focus on my own stuff.
  • My best friend Kara sent me a picture of her son (my godson) Bentley and I from a few Halloweens ago. He was a horse and I was Alex from A Clockwork Orange. Even though I look like hell, I really adore the picture!

  • That is all for now! I'm gonna take a shower, watch some more Lost, have spicy veggie chili with tortilla chips for dinner and maybe start re-reading some of my favorite fan fictions from years ago. I hope everyone is doing well! Goodbye for now!

I also got a pair of sweat pants and two pairs of warm knitted socks!

I was patient zero (people were joking that I start the zombie apocalypse), I had a head injury and I was DOA. • I got accepted for my local youth council, but I can't accept due to not having a drive to the first meeting, which is an hour away. Its a shame because I'm quite sure that the council gets to meet Justin Trudeau in 2017.
  • My grandmother was nice enough to purchase some vegetarian friendly Halloween candy for me! Including Jelly Belly's candy corn, which is my favorite!

    ♪♫ Just Like Fire - P!nk

Its been too long since I last wrote a blog. I've been both busy and somewhat sick (allergies). But I've got some free time now and I'm feeling much better! First of all, I went to Brownie camp a week or so ago. I was basically a camp counselor for anyone who doesn't know what Brownies is. It was a fun time, except for the wicked sunburn that I got from being outside for a few hours without sunscreen. It has pretty much completely gone away now though. Also, we had our last Brownie meeting (until the fall) last Thursday. We had a dance party with some treats, then a little award ceremony. It was sorta sad to say goodbye, but I will see most of them again next year (if I decide to go back). Also, I got some gifts from parents as a thank you for volunteering, which included homemade wine, and flowers!

I haven't gotten out much lately, but I did go out last week for a shopping day. I rarely ever treat myself, so I bought myself a cute tote bag (with a Lord of the Rings quote), which was on sale for $8! I also bought a few other necessities, and got both my lunch and dinner from the Heartwood, which is a lovely vegetarian/vegan restaurant. I did quite a bit of walking as well. It was a great day!

So as I mentioned in my last blog, I've recently became a vegan. I've been looking through all a of the products that I use to determine whether its vegan or not. About 1/3 is vegan by accident, but the rest isn't. I'm going to use the other 2/3 until it runs out, because I don't want to waste... but I will be purchasing the vegan alternative next time. I managed to find a lot of things that are the same price or even cheaper than the non-vegan versions that I've been using, so I'm pretty thrilled! The only thing that is more expensive is shampoo and conditioner, but I'm saving so much money from everything else, so it evens out. Anyways, I came across two things in my research for vegan alternatives that really intrigued me; menstrual cups and reusable cloth pads. Apparently a lot of vegan women use them because they're much more environmentally friendly and cheaper in the long run! Also, I found out that a lot of major tampon companies test their products on animals (I don't even wanna know how), which is disturbing...

Anyways, I decided to purchase one of them, but I couldn't decide at first. Eventually I decided on cloth pads, just because of the few horror stories that I read about menstrual cups. I did some searching on what the best brand was and that led me to LunaPads, which had amazing reviews. Even bigger women with heavy periods said that the pads were great! That was basically my number one concern, because I've always had heavy periods. So yeah... I purchased their Deluxe Heavy Flow Kit (which has enough pads + inserts for an entire period), along with some stain remover. It was $180 all together (that includes an extra $30 for the organic cotton), which is quite expensive... but they last at least five years according to reviews on various sites, so its much cheaper in the long run! I got them in the mail last week and they look fantastic! I just have to wait a week or so to try them out!

Other than all of that, the only other interesting things that have happened are; I passed my transcript into the college to complete my application for the child and youth care course, I've got a pretty nice collection of vegan recipes that I will be making in the next six months or so, and I've gotten caught up on Orange Is the New Black + Scream: The TV Series. I'm hoping something more exciting happens in the next couple of weeks...

I've had a few interesting things happen since I last blogged. I'll start with the most exciting one; I passed the GED math test, which means... I got my GED! I'm so happy and proud of myself! But ugh... I had really bad anxiety about it for a few weeks beforehand. I've never been good at math, so I really doubted my ability to do it, even though I studied like crazy. I'm so relieved now. I never have to worry about it again!

I celebrated by having dinner with my cousin and grandmother, and then having some wine with the women that I volunteer with. I also received some cards and money from family, and my grandmother is going to give me her ring (once it gets sized)! Plus I finally got to open the cheap tablet that I bought for myself a few weeks ago. I'm actually writing this blog on it right now. I'm really liking it so far!

On a completely unrelated topic; I started keto last week. It's basically a very low carb (less than 50 grams), high fat, and moderate protein diet. Anyways, I knew that I would get the "low carb flu", so I took the proper supplements and drank lots of water. However... it didn't help. I just kept getting more and more sick. Eventually, on the fifth day, I threw up a few times and felt my heart beating hard. It scared the hell out of me, so I quit...

To make a long story short, I still felt sick two days after quitting, so I went to the hospital. I ended up having low phosphorus (the only thing that I wasn't supplementing), so they gave me supplements to take over a twenty-four hour period. I'm feeling a ton better now! However, I was hooked up an EKG and the hospital, and whenever I felt my heart beating hard... it didn't show up. Also, the nurse said that I had the heart of an athlete. So... I don't have an explanation for that. Maybe it was a muscle spasm? I don't know.

So... I won't be doing a keto diet again for a long time. I suppose there was no real need for me to do it anyways. My old diet was working fine for weight loss (55 lbs down!), so I'm back to that. However, I'm gonna aim for 100 - 150 grams of carbs a day from now on, which is still considered low. I was eating around 200 grams before, so its not too big of a change. I've actually been doing it for a few days now. Its going really well. It feels like my diet is much more balanced now.

And last, but not least; I changed the layout and updated a bunch of stuff! It took forever, but I'm quite happy with how it turned out! Let me know what you think of the new changes! But yeah... I'm pretty tired right now, so I'm gonna watch Charmed until I fall asleep. Bye for now!
