♪♫ Most Of All - Aselin Debison
I've officially moved back in with my parents. After almost two years of living on my own, I finally realized I'm not ready to be on my own. I couldn't handle the responsibility. So here I am, back in my old bedroom. Part of me wants to scream and cry. I fought so hard to have my own apartment with all my own things. Then I threw it all away like it never meant anything at all. I feel like I failed.
The Korn and Disturbed concert is tomorrow! I'm sooo excited! The only thing that sucks is; I can't take pictures at the concert. But I will take a few pictures before I go, so you can all see my outfit and tell me what you think of it. I'll most likely get some pictures with my friends as well. Oh and I'm no longer taking Sam to the concert. She backed out because she injured her leg. So instead I'm taking either Jessie or Paul. We'll have to sort it out at some point tomorrow.
Okay, now I'm going to talk about something a bit random, so bare with me...
Aselin Debison
When I was sixteen, I was downloading music and I heard a song by Nora Jones called "Love Me Tender" (I believe it was an Elvis cover). I really liked her voice, so I decided to type "Nora Jones" into search and download all her songs. After spending a little while listening to them, I came across a song called "Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What A Wonderful World". Although it said it was by Nora Jones, it did not sound like her. It sounded a lot more beautiful. So I took the time to find out who actually sung it. It was a girl named Aselin Debison. After reading her biography I discovered that she lived in the same province I grew up in and only a few towns over from where I was! Her music was described as Folk/Celtic, which isn't my usual cup of tea. I mean, yeah...I like Nora Jones. But most of the music I listen to is classic rock, heavy metal, punk (and I'm not talking about Avril Lavigne, I mean REAL punk like The Sex Pistols). So I decided to take a chance and I downloaded all her songs. After listening to all of them, I was in love with her music. I couldn't stop listening to it. I even found myself singing her songs in the shower, when I walked down the street, etc. She became a huge inspiration to me. When I was seventeen, I found her Facebook profile and asked her if she had a new CD coming out. I really didn't expect a reply, but sure enough, she did. I almost died of shock, not only because she replied but also because she DID have a new CD out and the only way I could get it was by ordering it.
So I got the address and asked my grandmother if she would buy it for me (since I had no money). She agreed and we went out to get a envelope, stamp and a money order. I even wrote a letter telling her how much she inspires me to throw in. Then I happily shoved it into the mailbox. I went back home and sent her a message telling her I sent it. She replied by asking me if I wanted it to be signed. At this point I didn't know how it could get any better. I sent "yes" as I giggled with joy. About a week later, a package arrived in the mail. I opened it and found the CD inside. I opened it to find that she had signed it for me! It read: Deidre, Enjoy! Love always, Aselin xoxo (as you can see from the picture on the right). I nearly passed out from happiness.
The reason I told that story, is because I recently re-discovered her music. For about a six month period, I didn't listen to her. Probably because I over-played every one of her songs, haha. But yeah...last night I listened to her and I felt wonderfully inspired again. ♥
Its movie and junk food time now! I'll write another blog soon. :)

That is so cool! I always listened to a artist named Britt Nicole 24/7. She was like my idol almost. I loved her hair, her clothes, her songs, everything.
ReplyDeleteI don't listen to her as much as I use to. I am sure when I do re-discover her music I will be just like you was.

Thanks for the comment! :D
I also love finding people who like to write. I mean, there are people out there that write and there are people that can write, you know?
Supper Bunny? What is up with the supper part? Did he always eat supper before he left to save the world? xD
I don't really do short stories a whole lot, poetry for that matter, but I do like to read them. I just don't write them. I guess I am a nonfiction article type of girl.
What is your novel about? Five years is a long time to work on something!
Thank you so much. You have a lovely website yourself! :D
Hey!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Aselin but it's so awesome she signed the CD for you and everything! I will definitely give her songs a go!
