i can't get you off of my mind

♪♫ Love Me - Felix Cartal & Lights

I'm back from my trip! It went really well! It was so nice to be away from work for 5 days. I needed the break. If you're wondering where I went, I just went to Cape Breton (I live in another part of Nova Scotia) to visit family. We had lots of delicious meals, spent time together, went for a walk in the woods (where I found some cute mushies), and I did a little bit of thrifting. I hit up a thrift store along the way that I heard was really good. I ended up finding the cutest blue mushroom utensil holder for $3 and a Heart album (greatest hits live) in almost perfect condition for $3 too!

I picked up thrifting as a hobby during the pandemic and its been amazing! I have always been obsessed with '70s decor/aesthetics and have been able to collect a ton of vintage items for really cheap at thrift stores. I'm saving so much money compared to when I bought things brand new. Since I'm about to be a poor student again (I start school in 1 week), its important that I strictly budget my money. However, even just $20 a week for thrifting will get me lots of stuff! As I mentioned earlier, I got two items for $3 each. With $20, I could get 5-7 items per week. I typically am very picky though and try to only buy items that I really want/that are rare to find. I don't have a ton of storage space, so I am trying to be careful about how many purchases I make. On average, I probably only buy 3-6 items per month.

On that note, I finally washed the vintage bedsheet that I thrifted for $5 last month and its on my bed now! The colors are so much more vibrant in person...

Now I just need to find the fitted sheet and two pillowcases to match!

Since I got back, I've just been cleaning/organizing and preparing for school. I'm excited, but nervous. I hope it goes well! That's all for now. I hope everyone else is doing well!

  1. I love how cute those mushrooms in your photos were, and that holder with the mushroom is adorable. Glad to hear you had a good trip. :) I feel you, I love thrift stores and thrifting but there aren't any good thrift stores near me. Good luck with school! :)
