darlin' makes 'em do it now

I finished my first weekend in my new position of part-time weekend overnight worker (I work 5 days/40 hours all together every other weekend from Thursday to Monday)! It was more challenging than I thought it would be, but I made it through and I definitely know I can get used to it. The challenging part was mostly to do with time restraints... I struggled to get enough sleep between shifts and have time to do self care as well. My co-worker, the full-time weekend overnight worker, told me that it takes a few weeks to adjust and figure out how to navigate the position. That definitely made me feel better. I got this!

Before my first day on Thursday, I spent the morning making pumpkin spice muffins! I took 6 for myself and brought the rest to work for my co-workers/the youth. The recipe is actually super simple; a 15oz can of pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling), a box of spice cake mix and a cup of water. Mix it all up well, grease a muffin pan with butter or oil (don't use muffin cups - they stick too much), then bake on 350°F for 20-25 minutes. Easy peasy! Its actually a weight watchers recipe, so the calorie content is low! Its only about 90-100 calories per muffin! Perfect if you're watching your diet, but want a yummy fall treat!

I also got my Teeny-Tiny Christmas Cactus in the mail on Thursday! It was a nice little surprise before I headed to work. Its smaller than what I expected (I don't know what I expected - it said teeny-tiny!), but its still super cute. I already have it on display, even though Christmas isn't for another 2 months, haha!

Yesterday was a busy day. When I got off work at 8 am, I was supposed to have a supervision meeting, but my boss forgot. We decided to reschedule, then I headed out to run some errands. I bought some more bubble envelopes, mailed out some Etsy orders, bought gift cards for Christmas, and bought a few groceries. When I got home, I slept for about 4 hours, then woke up and completed more tasks; did laundry, wrapped gifts, organized Christmas cards, did my budget, cleaned my room, cleaned out my bag, and did dishes. I ended my night by watching Friends and enjoying candy + hot chocolate.

I woke up late this morning. I ended up sleeping for 10 hours or more. I'm glad though... I get limited sleep doing so many overnight shifts, so I needed to let myself sleep and wake up without an alarm. It was wonderful! Today I'm going to watch horror movies (especially House of 1000 Corpses - my yearly tradition on Halloween Eve!), eat yummy food and relax in bed. Its my lazy self care day! However... I do have to stop by Walmart later to pick up an order (a Christmas gift for my cousin). I'm also going to try to stop by a pharmacy for a flu shot. I haven't had time to do it and I need to get it done. Anyways, Happy Halloween Eve to everyone who celebrates it!
