lots of wonderful things

♪♫ Alive - Sia

I'm finally writing a new blog! In my last blog I discussed my desire to start writing again... I haven't had a chance to sit down and write anything, however it did remind me of something important... I had a poem published when I was in high school, but I didn't have the money to buy the book at the time. So... I tracked down the publisher, and emailed them! Their site says that all previous poetry books are available for purchase, but the only problem is that I don't know which one it is. I gave them the name of my poem, plus my name, so I hope they can track it down for me!

Speaking of books... I finally charged my Kobo for the first time in ages! Plus I added a ton of ebooks to it! I'm currently over half way through Witch's Canyon by Jeff Mariotte (a Supernatural novel). Its been so long since I was able to sit and enjoy reading a book. I'm feeling so much like the old me. Its wonderful! I'm not sure what book I'm gonna start reading next. I'm thinking maybe Steel by Carrie Vaughn. For some reason I'm really in the mood for reading about pirates, haha. I definitely don't feel that I'm ready to start a series right now (since I just got back into reading), so I'm starting with just individual books.

My teacher gave me three more GED vouchers! I'm gonna call either today or Friday to book the writing test, social studies test, and science test. I'm gonna try to get them all done in the same day. Then I'll just have math left! I can't believe that I'll be done my GED soon! I predict that I'll be celebrating in the first week of May. I'm getting sparkling red wine, Swiss Chalet, and maybe going to the casino too. I also want to buy myself a little gift. My only ideas are; Raspberry in Paris loose leaf tea, or an owl mug. Not sure what I want yet...

And... I made an amazing vegetable and pasta soup with chicken last week! I got the recipe from my cousin's diabetes magazine (I don't have diabetes). The only things I did differently; used less carrot and added some cauliflower, and added chicken! I decided to try it out, because I don't like cooked vegetables, and therefore have a hard time getting them into my diet. But I loved the soup, so I have high hopes for cooked vegetables from now on! I'm definitely gonna try more recipes involving cooked vegetables. Speaking of trying new things... I'm trying a veggie dog today! I got them because I heard they taste pretty much the same as regular hot dogs, plus they're a third of the calories, have the same protein, and pretty much no fat at all!

I finally got some new pants! I went to Value Village over the weekend, and got two pairs of size 16 pants! I'm down two sizes now! And a total of 47 lbs! I decided to go with two pairs of second hand pants, because I'll be down another size in July... so there is no point in spending a bunch of money on pants that I'm only wearing for a few months or so. But I will be buying five or so pairs of pants when I'm down to a size 14, because I'll be maintaining my weight for six or seven months (to let my body tighten up a bit from the weight loss/give me a break from losing weight). Plus I'll be buying shirts, tank tops, and hoodies too, because I'll need a decent wardrobe for school in September!

A couple days ago, I ordered two mugs online to give my grandmother and cousin for Mother's Day. Plus since I needed a few more dollars to make the shipping free, I got myself a small tea infuser! Its been so long since I had loose leaf tea, so I'm very excited! But I'm more excited about seeing my grandmother's face and my cousin's face when I give them their mugs!

Yesterday was a great day. I woke up really early, and went to a resume workshop. It took me all morning, but I got my resume done! Afterwards, I went for lunch at Subway, which was amazing, as always. I did a bit of shopping around downtown. I got two Mother's Day cards for my grandmother and cousin, plus a plastic wine glass (because I don't trust myself, haha!). I had some peppermint tea at Starbucks, and I read a few more chapters of Witch's Canyon while I was there. It was so nice to relax for a bit. Then I walked around some more, and ended up buying $2 worth of loose leaf tea (yogi berry) at David's Tea. And I headed home for dinner after that.

We went to visit my grandfather after dinner. He is giving me a shelf, which I won't be getting until the weekend (my uncle is gonna bring it over for us). Plus I wanted to give him some Girl Guide cookies. It was nice to see him, but he didn't look good... it was really depressing. I kept thinking about how he probably isn't gonna be around for too many more years. Anyways, on a lighter note, here is the shelf...

That's all for now!
