better than all the rest

♪♫ Indian Summer - The Doors

I'm going home tomorrow! I can't wait to see my boyfriend, my friends, my cat and my bedroom. Unfortunately I have to wake up at 5:30 am to catch the bus, but I'm sure it will be fine. Anyways, I might as well finish my last blog while on vacation. Starting with Thursday. I got the pictures that I sent away to be developed. They turned out to be kinda funny. Lots of pictures from when I lived with Garnet and Alycia. Gave me a good laugh. I also went to the clinic about my ear and it turns out that I have an infection. So the doctor gave me free ear drops, because my health plan doesn't work here.

We (my grandmother and I) were supposed to drop my pants off at the tailor's to be fixed, but they can't do anything for me. The material is too thin and they're just wearing down so much. Basically I need new pants. Its a little upsetting, because they are my favorite pair of pants and it takes forever to find a good pair of pants. Ugh. The dollar store was next door, so we went in and got a few things; Peanut M&Ms, dream catcher key chains and a frog plushie (for my godson Bentley). My cousin and I tried watching Zero Dark Thirty when I got home, but she went to bed early and I found it boring. I don't even remember what I did after that.

On Friday, I went around taking pictures of all the places from my childhood. I will post them soon, but there was too many to put on Instagram and I have to edit some of them. I also got some ice cream from Funky Munky, which brings back memories. After taking pictures for hours, we went to visit my uncle Chris and my cousin Ethan. They were in the backyard behind their apartment building playing with a plastic bag and toy dragons. Ethan is extremely shy and didn't say a word. But I got a cute picture of my uncle, cousin and grandmother. At the last minute before taking the picture, my cousin turned his head and kissed his dad on the cheek. It was nice seeing them. I didn't get to see my aunt though, because she was sick in bed. But I got my Avon order; two nail polishes ("celestial" and "suddenly sunny") and an eyebrow pencil. I watched Dark Shadows when I got back to the house. That is pretty much all I remember from that night.

Yesterday I woke up early to go to the farm market because there is a guy there who sells paintings of Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit for cheap, but he wasn't there. I was kinda pissed because I woke up early for nothing. But I got some delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies. Then we drove to a couple more markets for groceries and stopped by Wal-Mart to look around. I was bored and I wanted ideas for my apartment. I'm getting so anxious about it. I just wanna have the money I need and have the apartment right now!

My grandmother and I watched Magic Mike when we got home. Which was...awkward...haha. But I had a panic attack halfway through, because my hair straightener broke. Its a silly thing to have a panic attack about, but I can't help it. They just happen uncontrollably. I was mostly upset because I don't have the money to pay for a new straightener. Plus I've been having bad luck with things breaking/falling apart lately. But my grandmother calmed me down and told me she would buy me a new one. So I went to bed and watched From Dusk Till Dawn until I fell asleep. I'm so addicted to that movie. I watch it pretty much every night. Quentin Tarantino and George Clooney are perfect. I wish they wouldn't have killed Richie and made sequels. ♥

Today was super awesome. I woke up early and got ready. Not long after that, my grandfather picked up my grandmother and I. Our first stop was Shopper's to find a hair straightener, but none of them were good. So we went to Wal-Mart and I found a perfect one for $40! It's wet to dry, ceramic + titanium, goes up to 420° Fahrenheit and has an automatic 60 minute shut off. I've read a few reviews and apparently its really good. I won't be testing it out until later. I'm so excited!

After that, it was time to drive to Peggy's Cove (my first time going)! I listened to music and relaxed in the backseat of the car for the entire drive. It took 45 minutes approximately. It was so amazing when we arrived. The scenery was beautiful. But we decided to eat right away, so we went to The Sou 'Wester, which is pretty much the only restaurant there. We all got the fish 'n chips, which were amazing. Best I've ever had. And holy fuck...one of the busboys was beyond sexy. He reminded me of Alcide from True Blood. My grandmother said "he's like a Greek God", lmao. We kept staring at him. He shouldn't be working there. He should be modeling or acting or something.

There was a gift shop attached to the restaurant, so we went after we finished eating. I got a postcard, a key chain and they were put in a brown bag (so exciting, I know). When we went outside, my grandfather wanted to get a personalized post card of us, which cost $7 each or 3 for $20. So we got three (obviously we each got one). I look absolutely awful in the picture. I didn't wear makeup or do my hair. Basically no effort was put into my appearance at all. But oh well. Its a memory. Oh plus I kept the paper place mat from the restaurant. It had some interesting facts and whatnot on it.

Finally we got around to looking at the scenery. The lighthouse is the most famous attraction. I got some good pictures of it. Then we went behind it and I sat on a rock for a while, just enjoying the beautiful scenery and the ocean waves crashing against the rocks. We did a bit of exploring, but my grandparents were tired, so we started walking back to the car. I got pictures of the town along the way. Its such a beautiful area. I wish I could live there. There was another gift shop near where we parked the car, so we looked inside...but there wasn't anything worth buying. We did stop at the ice cream place a little bit up the road. It was called "DeeDee's Gourmet Ice Cream", which is pretty cool since my name is DeeDee. I got once scoop of mint chocolate chip and it was almost $4! Completely ridiculous price. But it was pretty good.

On the way home, my grandfather stopped the car and got out to take pictures of a monument that was created for the people who died in the Swissair flight 111 plane crash that happened there. Apparently the plane crashed into the water and there were no survivors. The most gruesome part of the story was that the fishermen nearby found body parts washing up on the shore for a while. Such a sad story. I'm not sure why the plane crashed or where it was coming from. I didn't get the full story. But I'm sure if you Google it, you'll find out. But anyways, I decided not to get out and take pictures, because my entire body was sore.

Finally we got home and since then, I've pretty much been relaxing and writing this blog. I gotta shower soon, finish my packing, then go to bed. I can't wait to be home tomorrow! ^_^

  2. You had quite the adventure! :P I was wondering on Facebook the other night where that Greek God quote came from, but I imagined it was something real cute/funny. Ugh, that really sucks though, starting a good time off with an ear infection - it looks like you had fun anyway, though. Always nice to spend time with family, that's for sure, it makes everything better! :)
